Scotties Earn Four All-KJCCC Soccer Selections

COLBY, Kan. - Highland freshmen Paige Carrier and McKenna Glade were selected as First Team All-KJCCC Women's Soccer Division 2 honorees as announced by the conference today. Freshman Ashley Romero (second team) and sophomore Abby Rash (honorable mention) were also recognized among the All-KJCCC honorees for Highland.

"I am very excited for these four girls," said head coach Jordan Maska. "All of them worked extremely hard this season and were a big part of the success we found and a major reason we were much more competitive in year two of in the return of women's soccer to Highland."

Starting in all 13 of her match appearances, Glade earned four shutouts and posted a goals-against average of 1.08. She collected 69 saves on the year, including a season-high 12 against Johnson County on October 8. In addition to her dozen stops against the Cavaliers, she recorded six matches with five saves or more. Her save percentage of .841 was second-best in the conference, behind only Johnson County's Avery Young.

"McKenna in goal was fantastic for us," said Maska. "From year one to year two we dropped our goals allowed by 67 goals, which is almost unheard of in terms of improvement."

Earning First Team accolades as a midfielder, Carrier led the Highland offense with seven goals on the year and started all 17 matches for the Scotties in 2025. She was one of three players to score multiple goals in Highland's 7-0 win at Southeastern Community College, and scored the game winner in Highland's 2-0 win against Neosho County.

"Our midfield took massive steps this season as well, and Paige was a key player in that," said Maska. "Her impact she has on both sides of the ball is unquestionable and helped the team massively."

Earning Second Team honors as a forward, Ashley Romero played in all 17 matches on the 2025 campaign, starting in 16 of her appearances. She tallied four goals and two assists, including a first-half equalizer at Allen County in Highland's season finale.

"Offensively, throughout the season we struggled some, but Ashley was able to give us a spark as she found herself out on the wing as a wide forward," added Maska. "She gave us a big boost to take some of the pressure off the back line and keepers.

After earning First Team accolades in 2024, Abby Rash was recognized as one of just four repeat All-KJCCC recipients for 2025, earning an honorable mention nod. With the improvements in Highland's offense, Rash was able to concentrate her efforts in the Scotties back line, helping HCC to allow just 25 goals on the 2025 season compared to 92 in 2024. She was not absent from the offense, however, as she recorded a goal at Pratt on October 1.

"The defensive efforts of the team were undeniable, and Abby led our back line this season to keep us in so many games against very good teams," said Maska. "I believe there were more that could have gotten All-Conference honors from out team, but these four are very deserving of the selections the got and I am very proud of them."
