Justin Ruiz earns “Scottie Athlete of the Week” honors after coming back from missing the last two and half games and helping the Scottie football team to a 40-33 win over Dodge City.

Ruiz came back to the Highland backfield in a big way helping Highland rush for 298 yards as a team in the victory over Dodge City and the sophomore tailback accounted for 158 yards on just eight carries with two touchdowns. He averaged 19.8 yards per carry in the win and had touchdown runs of 25 and 57 yards.

On the season Ruiz in six games has ran for 360 yards on 55 carries with two touchdowns posting a 6.5 yard per carry average on the season. He ranks sixth in yards per carry, ninth in rushing yards per game (60), 12th in rushing yards in the KJCCC.
