Allyssa Griggs earns “Scottie Athlete of the Week” honors after helping the #14 Highland Softball team go 8-1 on a 10-day road trip to Alabama and Mississippi over Spring Break to improve to 10-4 on the season.
Griggs put together a strong performance throughout the nine games on the road trip playing catcher, first base, pitcher and designated player over the trip. The sophomore on the trip went 15-30 with 15 RBI, five doubles, eight runs scored, a walk, stolen base and reached on an error at the plate, while inside the circle she was 1-0 tossing 5.2 innings giving up four runs on seven hits, three walks and a hit batter, while striking out two. She had a hit in seven of the nine games including three games with three plus hits and had four games with three RBI’s on the trip.
On the season Griggs is batting .409 with 18 hits, 12 runs scored, six doubles, two home runs, while inside the circle she is 1-0 tossing 11.2 innings giving up just five runs on 12 hits, two walks, with four strikeouts.
