This Week in Scottie Athletics Ep. 8

Box Score Last Week's Recap….

Scottie Volleyball

The Scotties hosted Fort Scott Community College on Wednesday night at Allen Field House. This all-important match had serious playoff implications with the winner most likely making it into the post-season and the loser dropping out of contention. These two teams were very evenly matched with the Greyhounds taking the first set 25-15, the Scotties bouncing back to take the second 25-14, then the Greyhounds won 25-23, and then the Scotties again recovered to take the fourth set by the final of 25-23. That forced a fifth winner-take-all set and in the end the Greyhounds prevailed by the final of 15-11. Highland was led by freshman Addy Holthaus (Seneca) with 21 kills to go along with 19 digs. Freshman Elise Curry (Berryton) led Highland with 19 assists. Freshman Samantha Nordhus (Seneca) had a team-high 23 digs.

On Thursday night, the Scotties took the court against the Ottawa University Junior Varsity Braves in Allen Field House. The Scotties prevailed 3-0 and got their seventh victory of the season. Holthaus led Highland with 17 kills and 17 digs. Curry had 24 assists and Nordhus also had 17 digs.

On Saturday, the Lady Scotties traveled to Creston, Iowa for a triangular. The Scotties defeated Iowa Lakes Community College 3-0 in the first match-up. In the next match, Highland took down host Southwestern Community College by the final of 3-0. We are still waiting for the stats for these matches. The Scotties are now 9-13 overall for the season.
