Scottie football ended their season Saturday at Iowa Central Community College. Highland fell to the Tritons by the final of 41-13. The Scotties finish the season with a 6-5 overall record and a 3-3 record in Jayhawk Conference standings.

HCC basketball is officially underway with four home games the first week. The Scottie men took to the court first with a romp over the University of St. Mary Spires Wednesday night by the final of 98-67. The Scotties were led by sophomore
Josh Owens (Arden, North Carolina) with 20-points and seven rebounds. Freshman
Dayveon Turner (Muncie, Indiana) had a game-high eight assists to go with 13-points. Sophomore
Tosh Lyons (Friendswood, Tex.) also had 13 points on a perfect 5 of 5 from the field.

Thursday night, the Scottie women took the floor against the Peru State College Bobcats in what was Coach Proctor's head coaching debut. The Scotties never looked back all game behind a smothering defense and a downhill offensive attack to defeat the Bobcats by the final of 81-28. Freshman
Jalasia Hull (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) led all scorers with 17-points. Freshman
Cameron McNamara (Dowingtown, Pennsylvania) had 16-points and eight rebounds. Sophomore
Kimberly Madrid (Allentown, Pennsylvania) had a team-high nine rebounds.

Both teams took the home floor Saturday with a double-header against the Metropolitan Community College Wolves. The Lady Scotties again jumped out early and cruised to a 72-35 win despite never getting a 3-point shot to fall. Freshman
Makayla Lamelle (Harrisburg, Pennsylvania) led the Scotties with 14-points while Hull added 13-points. Sophomore
Sha'Coria Hill (Fort Worth, Texas) had 8-points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The cager men also jumped out to a quick lead and never were really threatened en route to a 103-78 victory. Owens again paced the Scotties with 27-points. Freshman
Bubba Leavell (Hopkinsville, Kentucky) had 16-points while fellow freshman
Mikhali Roberts (San Antonio, Texas) had his first double-double with 11-points and 13 rebounds.

The Scottie cross country teams depart this week to Huntsville, Alabama for the NJCAA Division I National Cross Country Championships. They will race Saturday, Oct. 11, with the men running at 9:30 a.m. followed by the women at 10:30 a.m.

The only home basketball game this week is Tuesday, Oct. 7, with the Scottie men's basketball team hosting the Coyotes from Kansas Wesleyan University. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. The Scottie women are on the road that same day as they travel to Lawrence for a 5:30 p.m. game against Haskell Indian Nations University. Both teams take to the road this coming weekend with the women at the North Central Missouri College Classic in Trenton, and the men at the Johnson County Community College Classic in Overland Park.
