Box Score The Scottie football team suffered its third straight loss Saturday afternoon at the hands of the #2 ranked and undefeated Iowa Western Reivers by the final score of 21-16. The Scotties led 10-0 early in the second quarter and 10-7 at halftime, but the Reivers scored 21 unanswered points and held on for a 21-16 victory. The Scotties were led by sophomore quarterback
Tysan Robbins (Orlando, Fla.) with 115-yards passing and one touchdown. Sophomore
Mendez Jean-Baptiste (Orlando, Fla.) caught 10 passes for 126-yards and one score. Defensively, sophomore
Eddie Whipple (Daytona Beach, Fla.) led the Scotties with 13 total tackles, including 10 solo stops. The schedule doesn't get easier for the battle-weary Scotties as they travel to #14 ranked Garden City Community College next Saturday, Sept. 23, for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff. The Scotties are now 1-2 in KJCCC play and 1-3 overall.

Scottie volleyball only played one match last week as they hosted the #5 ranked Cowley Community College Tigers Wednesday night in Allen Field House. It proved to be a rough one for the Lady Scotties as they fell 3-0 to the Tigers. Freshman
Addy Holthaus (Seneca) led the Scotties with four kills and four digs on the night. The loss dropped them to 2-2 in Jayhawk Conference play and 4-7 overall. Highland is on the road Monday, Sept. 18, at Ottawa University for a 7:00 p.m. match-up against their junior varsity team. The Scotties continue on the road on Wednesday, Sept. 20, against the #20 ranked Neosho County Panthers for KJCCC match-up. First serve is set for 6:30 p.m.

The Scottie Cross Country teams were in action last Friday afternoon at the Missouri Southern State University Stampede in the College/JUCO division race. The lady harriers scored 204 team points, good for a seventh place finish out of 11 total teams. Hutchinson Community College won the meet with 52 points. The Scotties were led by a trio of ladies with freshmen
Lucy Hardy (Lawrence),
Samantha Presas (Midlothian, Tex.) and
Anabel Reyes (Harlingen, Tex.) showing some splendid pack running. Hardy finished in 29
th place, Presas was 30
th and Reyes was the 33
rd place runner. On the men's side, the Scotties placed 12
th out of 16 teams, scoring a total of 326 team points. Northwestern Oklahoma State University (current "home" of former Scottie volleyball coach Jon Bingesser) won the meet with 55 team points. The Scotties were again led by freshman
Emile Gaubert (France) with a 42
nd place finish. The Scotties are off this week. They return to action on Friday, Sept. 29, at the Chili Pepper Invitational meet in Fayette, Ark.
