OVERLAND PARK, Kan. - Taking on the no. 2 team in the nation, Highland (1-4-3, 1-1-1 KJCCC) held its own for much of the first half, but fell 4-0 to Johnson County (7-0, 2-0 KJCCC) on Monday night.
The Scotties withstood solid pressure from the Cavaliers through much of the first half, but JCCC found a goal in the 13th minute through a bit of luck, as a hopeful header trying to keep the ball in the attacking mix floated just over the hands of
McKenna Glade and under the crossbar.
Johnson County added a second goal in the 35th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the break.
Highland came out in the second half looking for an equalizer, but despite a handful of promising chances, were unable to find the net.
The Scotties return home on Wednesday, hosting Southeast Community College in a 4 p.m. kickoff.
