HIGHLAND, Kan. - After battling no. 11 Kansas City (Kan.) Community College (7-1-1, 3-0 KJCCC) to a 1-1 halftime draw, Highland (2-5-3, 1-2-1 KJCCC) was unable to withstand the second half onslaught by the Blue Devils, falling 3-1 on Saturday.

KCKCC found the scoreboard first in the match, forcing a turnover in midfield. Elissa Green collected a diagonal pass and managed to elude her defender, curling a right-footed shot off the post just above the outstretched arms of Abbie Beeler.

Highland was able to equalize just three minutes later, earning a corner kick. Riane Shaffer-Byers sent an outswinging cross into a crowd of players in the six-yard-box. The ball was partially cleared, but only as far as Paige Carrier, who was able to direct a header on goal. Her shot was saved, but the rebound floated up and was buried into the net by Jolie Galloway. 

After the halftime break, KCKCC was able to maintain a steady offensive pressure against Highland, eventually breaking through for two goals to take the win.

Highland continues its home stretch next Saturday, taking on Allen County Community College in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
