Box Score After a nail biter at Fort Scott on Wednesday, the Highland women's basketball team showed why they are the No. 8 ranked team in the NJCAA with a 104-67 win over the No. 12 Labette Cardinals Saturday afternoon.

The Scotties jumped out to a 47-35 halftime lead after a 20 point first half by
Jameka Dowell. Dowell went 5-9 from the floor and 9-9 from the free throw line to finish the half with 20 points and five steals.
Mariane Carvalho also had a big offensive half scoring 15 points and grabbing five rebounds.

Highland came out of the locker room and went on a 20-0 run in the first 3:30 of the quarter. They shot 81% in the third quarter and scored 37 points ripping the wings off the Cardinals and giving them a large enough spread to coast through the 4
th. Highland went on the defeat the Labette Cardinals 104-67.

Jameka Dowell had a career night scoring 35 points. She also added four rebounds, two assists and six steals to her stat line. Two Scotties finished the night with double-doubles;
Mariane Carvalho had 27 points and 11 rebounds while
Szonja Vukov finished with 11 points and a career high 17 rebounds.

The Scotties will head to Johnson County CC on Wednesday and take on the Cavaliers. The Cavaliers defeated the Scotties back in Highland on January 23 63-47. The Scotties look to even the series with a road win on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 5:30pm in Overland Park.
