Hesston, Kan. ─ On Saturday, Feb. 4, Highland Community College men's and women's basketball teams traveled to take on Hesston College.
The Scottie women got off to a strong start, dominating the first quarter 25-4. They took a 25-point lead into the half, 36-11. HCC's women extended their lead in the second half and won the game in an impressive fashion, 77-38. Their bench scored 36-points, and the largest lead of the game was 40-points at the 00:47 mark in the fourth quarter.
The Scottie men led by 12-points at the half, 43-31. Hesston College outscored HCC in the second half by 3-points, but it wasn't enough, as the Scotties held on for a 77-68 victory. HCC's bench scored 14-points, and their largest lead of the game was 16-points at the 07:11 mark in the second quarter.
The Scottie women had two players in double figures.
Kenadi Rising led the team with 17-points and 5-rebounds.
Sylvia Jones had 14-points and 5-rebounds.
Loribeth Williams led Hesston College with 14-points and 7-rebounds.
The Scottie men had four players in double figures.
Greg Moore led the way and had a double-double with 28-points and 15-rebounds.
Chris Flippin also had a double-double with 22-points and 15-rebounds.
RJ Sears and
Tosh Lyons each had 12-points and 3-rebounds.
David Duncan led Hesston College with 21-points and 12-rebounds.
Highland Community College women's basketball team is back in action Monday, Feb. 6, as they host the University of St. Mary (JV) at Ben Allen Field House. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. HCC's men's basketball team is back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 8, as they host Fort Scott Community College at Ben Allen Field House for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.Â
