Addy Holthaus Earns First Team All-KJCCC Recognition

COLBY, Kan. - After racking up 456 kills to rank 13th in NJCAA Division II, Addyson Holthaus was named a First Team All-KJCCC/Region 6 honoree as announced by the league office. The Seneca, Kan., native was the only Scottie selected for postseason accolades despite Highland's late season surge that saw the team win 10 of its final 11 regular season contests and miss out on home court advantage via tiebreaker.

"Addy's first team all-conference honor is very well deserved," said head coach Andrea Keller. "She finished the season second in total kills as well as kills per set in the unbelievably loaded Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. We had several other players that were all-conference caliber, but did not quite make the cut due to the incredible talent within the KJCCC. We are excited to have many of those players returning next year to continue to build upon the success from this season."

In addition to ranking in the top 20 in kills nationally, Holthaus was second in the KJCCC, just 47 behind Jayhawk player of the year Laura Bonomi from Cowley Community College. She averaged 12.3 kills per match, with three matches (21 at Central Neb.; 20 at Independence CC; 23 at Allen County CC) of 20 kills or more. She also ranked fifth in the conference with 89 total blocks (31 solo, 58 assist) on the year, adding a respectable 260 digs and 21 service aces. Holthaus was recognized as an Honorable Mention All-KJCCC selection in 2023.

"Addy was regularly the target of opponents' defense and despite attacking against three blockers on a regular basis, she would consistently lead our team in kills," added Keller. "Her 23 kills against Allen County on October 16th is one of the most impressive performances I have ever witnessed in my 17-year coaching career. To say we have been blessed to have Addy in our program for the past 2 years would be an understatement. Her work ethic and quiet leadership have been instrumental in turning around the Highland Volleyball program."

Highland finished the 2024 season tied for fourth in the KJCCC with a record of 26-11 (7-3 KJCCC). To see all of the postseason selections, including KJCCC Division 2 Player of the Year, Coach of the Year and Freshman of the Year, visit the KJCCC website.
