Women's Basketball Picked Sixth In KJCCC Preseason Poll

COLBY, Kan. - Under new head coach Tana Coleman, Highland was ranked sixth in the 2025-26 KJCCC Division 2 Women's Basketball Preseason Order of Finish announced by the league office today. The Scotties garnered 16 points in voting among the seven head coaches of the Jayhawk Conference.

Defending NJCAA Division 2 National Champion Johnson County was unanimously picked to finish first, following their 34-1 finish to the 2024-25 season. The lone setback for the Cavaliers came at the hands of Highland in the NJCAA Region 6 tournament semifinals, before JCCC won four straight games including a 75-67 win over Pima Community College in the National Title game.

Highland opens the 2025-26 season on Friday, Oct. 31, hosting the HCC Classic. The Scotties tip off against Central Community College at 5:30 p.m., with Johnson County taking on Murray State College at 7:30 p.m.

Postseason play will begin on Tuesday, March 3rd, with the top overall seed receiving a bye to the semifinals while teams seeded two, three, and four will host the bottom three teams in the final regular season standings. The semifinals and finals of the 2026 NJCAA Division 2 Women's Basketball Plains District Tournament will take place March 6-7 on the campus of Kansas City Kansas Community College inside the KCKCC Field House with the NJCAA Division 2 Women's Basketball National Tournament slated to take place March 16-21, 2026, in Hickory, North Carolina.
